Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. announces the passing of Past International Headquarters Executive Director Ernest H. Brown, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
Brown received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Cincinnati. During his professional career, Brown was a devoted educator who served as a teacher in the School District of Philadelphia from 1975-1980. Thereafter, he transitioned his vocation by working as an insurance agent. This led to his establishing and directing the Ernie Brown – State Farm Insurance Agency, Incorporated. He was dedicated to this profession for over thirty years.
He was a 1973 initiate of the University of Cincinnati Chapter, the Beta Eta of Kappa Alpha Psi®. During his nearly 52 years of fraternity membership, he served admirably in various leadership positions. He was Polemarch of the Philadelphia (PA) Alumni Chapter and was a member of the Northeastern Province Board of Directors. He was notably appointed twice as International Headquarters’ Interim Executive Director, subsequently appointed formally as Executive Director. He was committed to strengthening the operations of the international headquarters.
Life Member Brown’s devotion and service to the Fraternity were further manifested by serving at all levels of the Fraternity’s organizational structure. He was bestowed the Northeastern Province’s highest honor, the James M.
Kidd Award, for his meritorious achievements in the Fraternity.
Brown served as a trustee at the Salem Baptist Church of Jenkintown, PA, and was a member of the Robert Johnson Smith Family Life Center Board of Directors. Brown’s son, Kenneth B. Brown, Sr. (Lambda 2009) continues his legacy as a member of the Philadelphia (PA) Alumni Chapter.
